The 3 B's

Bathtime, Bedtime and Burping

Early on you are told newborns only do a few things.....eat, sleep and poop (pardon the blunt terminology). Well, here is an update on our newborn, but replacing the latter with bathtime because it is more fun and a daily activity we participate in.

These are also all 3 things that our daughter was not a fan of early in life. Sure, she did them all, but with a little screaming.

Bathtime: Who can blame her? If you placed me on a cold countertop with only a towel underneath me and wet me, I would scream too! Or if you placed me in a mesh hammock with water underneath me and pour water on me, again, crying would begin. BUT if you were to place me in warm water and have the faucet stream water on me throughout the bath, I would be calm and joyful. Therefore, she now has a love and appreciation for bathtime. It calms her and keeps her happy. We love bathtime!! B #1 = success!

Bedtime: For awhile Addison has had her day and night schedule mixed up. 5am to her was 5pm....let's play. I am not going to sit here and say that we have "fixed" it, but we are on our way to sleeping a little more....we hope. This past week we have gone 4-5 hour stretches before awakening from our slumper to a whimpering baby, who is ready to be fed. Last night, she slept from 12:45-7:30. Small success, but success nonetheless. It has been a little less of a challenge to get her to fall asleep at night and that has been something I have struggled with. So, for now, and hopefully for many weeks and months to come, B #2 = small success with continuing progress!

Burping: This may seem like an odd B to add, but feeding is not as much of an issue for our daughter as burping is. She hates being "pulled away from the dinner table" to participate in the activity of burping. She doesn't see the need for it or the benefit of it in her life like her parents do. She expresses this to us usually by screaming, not crying, which only allows more air to enter her little body. B #3 = still needs work!

I would also like to add playtime to the infamous newborn list because she does play and she LOVES to play. We love to watch her play, smile and interact with us....it is great!

So, that is our status update for now on our sweet little girl and here are a few pictures to enjoy.
